Took my car in for an inspection. They had me pull it in the bay and I walked in the shop. One of the techs got in my car, backed it out of the bay and drove it around the parking lot accelerating aggressively. It's a fast car but I never had them drive it around the parking lot before during an inspection. Got the felling he just wanted to drive it just for fun. Was very upset that he is hot rodding my car. I understand testing the brakes but that can be done in the bay. I've used this place many times and never had them test drive my car during an inspection.
Cory - Thank you so much for your post as we always appreciate our customers providing feedback. As part of the Texas State Inspection, one of the tests that our Certified Inspectors conduct is a On Road (Brake Test Area (4.20.5 of the Texas State Inspectors Handbook): "At a speed of 20 mph apply service brakes firmly. Observe whether a vehicle comes to a smooth stop within the distance prescribed by the chart, “Required Brake Performance.” Inspector should have firm control of the steering wheel throughout the test". The Break Test Area at Katy Quick Lube is in the rear parking lot area and the inspector must bring the car to 20mph before firmly applying the breaks to ensure the car passes the Texas State standards. Our testing area has been approved by TXDPS auditors and the State Inspector has to conduct this test to pass any legal inspection. If you would like to discuss further or if you would like a tour of our testing areas, I would be happy to accommodate to ensure we are doing the right thing for all our customers. Thank you again for visiting Katy Quick Lube, we appreciate your business. Courtney McCurley - Owner - Katy Quick Lube
